Installed base
All the products a company has sold that are still in use, and that can generate service and upgrade revenue.
Lifts, MRI scanners, chip-making machines or network equipment stay in use for many years. Each one needs maintenance, spare parts, software and upgrades, usually from the company that made it.
A large installed base can therefore keep producing revenue even in years when few new machines are sold.
